Imagine, you find yourself surrounded by heaps of your favorite chocolates in the world famous Hershey Chocolate Factory!!! It sounds like a dream world or some cartoon story, isn’t it?? But, I’ve really experienced these, when I was at the Hershey Chocolate World in Pennsylvania last weekend!! Yes, there are lots and lots of chocolates, all around everywhere in there!! Probably, it’s the Hershey’s Largest Store. Moreover, they also let you tour the chocolate factory guiding you all through the chocolate making and packing process; Isn’t it amazing?? I know; So, let me tell you what I’ve learnt there-
They say, the unique taste of Hershey chocolates is all about the milk. All year around, everyday, Hershey stainless steel tank trucks visit dairy farms in the region to pick up fresh grade A milk. Right beginning at the farm, Hershey takes special care to make sure all the government standards for quality and cleanliness were met. But obviously, it takes more than milk to make those world famous chocolates. Apart from milk, another important ingredient is of course, Cocoa Beans, which is imported to the factory from the chocolatiers all around the world.
Then the beans are carefully sorted through screening machines, which are then spread on to the blending machines. The best thing is, they take a lot of special care all through the process to keep up the unique Hershey flavor. After the blending process, they are then sent to the large roasters where the raw cocoa beans are made ready for the breaking process. After the beans are roasted they arrive at the breaking chamber where the outer shell of the cocoa is removed and inner meat is broken into tiny fragments called Nibs, the part of the beans actually used to make chocolates. The nibs are now passed through the milling machines, which results in liquid chocolate called Chocolate Liquor although it has no alcoholic content. This is the liquid from which all chocolates originates, mixing it with milk and sugar in the next central blending process. Next is the Drying Process, where the extra moisture is absorbed, which results in chocolate crumbs. These are now added with cocoa butter and is made ready for refining. Now, after going through the refining process and then the last crunching process, it’s finally ready to make The Great American Chocolate Bars, Kisses and Candies.
Isn’t this fascinating? You should definitely visit the Hershey Chocolate World once and explore all the great and amazing things happening there. I was simply mesmerized with what I discovered there and I bet you’ll too. Find the best deal, compare prices, and read what other travelers have to say at TripAdvisor
