With the numerous quintessential beaches in Maine, it’s quite tough to visit all of them in just one trip. So, here is a guide to the top beaches in Maine. which you must include in your “top places to see in Maine” list.
Long Sand Beach, York – Offers great views of the famous Nubble Lighthouse, officially the Cape Neddick Light Station, one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world, which is located on its own island just a few hundred feet off shore. If you have a keen interest on shopping or you’re looking for lively beach experience with entertainment and restaurants, just head towards the nearby Short Sand Beach, a couple of minutes away from Long Sand Beach.
Ogunquit Beach, Ogunquit – It’s called “Beautiful Place By The Sea” for quite obvious reasons !!! Trip Advisor has rated Qgunquit Beach as one of the Top 25 Beaches in the USA. From land to sea, there is no limits to the amazing beauty Qgunquit has to offer; It consistently ranks as one of the best vacation spots in the USA, and after visiting it, I completely agree to the nominations for the obvious reasons- Miles of beautiful sandy beaches, quaint seaport cove, golf courses, hiking, swimming, deep sea fishing, surfing, sea kayaking and more! Qgunquit has everything for every type of traveler. Find the best deal, compare prices, and read what other travelers have to say at TripAdvisor
Moody Beach, Wells – This is one of the finest beach in the area and also one of my fave; The beach is damn very quite!! May be, Moody Beach is not crowded because it is considered as a private beach and many of the private homes line this beach area, but there is parking and beach access at the end of Ocean Ave. where you can spend some awesome moments at this picturesque beach.
Goose Rocks Beach, Kennebunkport – Protected and white powdered soft sand beach !! You can spend your whole day here!! At 3 miles long, Goose Rocks Beach is a favorite with walkers. Parking is limited here and permission is required which you can avail from the Kennebunkport Police Station or from the Goose Rocks General Store.
Sand Beach, Acadia National Park – This pocket beach, edging a cove between Great Head and Gorham Mountain, is one of the most scenic beaches in Maine. It’s surrounding is amazingly picturesque!!! With unique pink sands and mesmerizing beauty, Sand Beach is a must-must-must visit while you are in Maine.
